There are some people that I like quite a lot that have planted and are helping with a church plant in Charlottesville VA, called
And they have had a great idea. Â I would like to extend it to you.
If you are like me, the holiday season can get so hectic that before we know it Christmas Eve will be upon us. Â Without wanting to, we can easily succumb to the cultural focus on getting the gifts, sending the cards, hitting the parties, the lines, the budget busting… the whole thing.
What can get lost is our focus on Jesus. Â It’s easy to do. Â It happened to me last year and I am a pastor!
Yesterday, as I was sitting in our Downtown Gathering I thought about [nlcf] doing something that would help our members to daily reflect and refocus. Â I saw this, and realized we didn’t need to. Â It has already been done. 🙂
What All Souls is doing is putting up 10 minute reflections on advent and on preparing our hearts for what is centrally important in this season. Â The reality that this is our time to celebrate God coming back for us in the person of Jesus and his promise to come back for us again. Â So, each weekday, there is a 10-minute reflection. Â Just 10-minutes to start our day, to adjust our focus. Â To align our thoughts and hearts with what is most important.
If you would like to join them in this,
Peace (I truly mean that), Jim
